Anthony Mrsnik

Anthony has over 35 years’ experience in film and television, with extensive skills in production, financing, co-production, broadcasting and streaming, and distribution. Anthony is also experienced in radio, music, licensing, print publishing, digital and online, and across all genres (scripted, kids, non-scripted, reality, comedy, news & current affairs, documentary & factual, sport).
Previously, Director of Legal & Business Affairs and General Counsel for Showtime Australia (owned by the then 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Liberty Media). The role included the management of Showtime’s Feature Film and Drama Investments, which saw over 100 hours of original commission series drama (including Satisfaction, Cloudstreet) and approximately 65 feature films (including Animal Kingdom, Rabbit Proof Fence).
Anthony has also worked for a number of organisations in Legal and Business Affairs roles, including Foxtel, the former Grundy Organisation – now Fremantle Australia (including as head of Grundy Music Publishing), the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and Southern Star Entertainment (now EndemolShine Australia).
In the area of both cultural and industry policy, Anthony has extensive experience in lobbying and submissions to Australian Federal and State governments, departments, and industry bodies, including for government financing. Anthony has served as an industry negotiator for the Screen Producers Association of Australia and the Australian Subscription TV Association.
At Showtime Australia, Anthony was involved in the Showtime Talent Assist Scheme (a competition for short film makers run in conjunction with Screen Producers Australia), and the funding and sponsorship arrangements for Tropfest, AACTA Awards, and the SBS Showtime Million Dollar Films initiative and related broadcast deals.
Anthony has taught, and course designed, at numerous tertiary institutions in both the business and law of film and TV (Australian Film TV and Radio School, University of NSW, University of Technology Sydney, Macleay College, University of Sydney), and mentored numerous students in various businesses, as well as via university programs.
Anthony is currently a co-owner of the international film and tv sales agent and distributor Escapade Media. With over ten years’ experience at Escapade Media, Anthony has identified and attracted both completed and development projects for financing, production, and distribution.
